GROUP FITNESS instructor

Kimi is a yoga and pilates instructor currently based in Pittsburgh, PA. Originally from New York, she spent 8 years of her formal education at women & nb-only schools. This led her to begin teaching yoga and self-defense in 2017 to young girls, before working at a women’s gym in Manhattan. She’s grateful to have found an empowering and inclusive community here at Rebel. Kimi studied yoga in Bali, Indonesia, within the lineage of K. Pattabhi Jois and B.K.S. Iyengar. She is also trained and certified through Power Pilates based on the Joseph Pilates system. With her education in these three traditional lineages, she offers her students the best of conventional shapes (alignment and spinal/pelvic integrity) and contemporary sequencing (flowing creativity and smiles). In addition to her movement certifications, she is passionate about food justice and nutrition. She is a life-long vegan and is certified in Permaculture Design. Kimi is currently finishing her PhD, studying the mental health impacts of social misrepresentation in technology. You can find her dancing around with her cat and hosting pop-up events around the city.
